Professor i must say that you took learning to a new level...is it even learning when u cant stop laughing and having fun?
Behind, however, the anxiously awaited moment of dropping the egg into the basket there was the more serious and intense planning phase. In my group there was no giggles to be heard here as people racked their brain for ideas on how to arrange the straws and even more tedious than this was the drawing of the design...we unfortunately werent artistically gifted. So the idea was agreed upon but transitioning it from thought to tangiblility was very VERY HARD.
Our group members all understood what we had to do. We would be given 8 straws, a specific amount of tape and 1 egg. The objective was to make a "contraption" to protect this egg from breaking after being dropped from a height of 10 feet. We had 15 minutes to come up with our design and be on the plastic before the 15 mintues was up. Then we would be given ten minutes to actually make our "contraption".
During the 15 minutes designing stage, we discussed who would be willing verses who are able to do different jobs. Who wants to be the one to drop the egg, who can draw, who is going to actually make it etc. Simple things that we didn't plan for or remember was done by the group member's own initiative (someone kept an eye on the clock given us minute by minute update, someone got up and went for the materials while the rest of us were still in discussions etc.
Most of all the most praiseworthy thing about my group even though our design was flawed was that we all particpated giving ideas and suggestions, The making of our basket was almost like an assembly line with specialization occuring in the cutting of the tape, the bending of the straws etc. And the number one thing was that even as we were actually making our basket, new ideas were being created and incorporated into the design that werent orginally thought of.

Yea, except you forgot to add the fact that we DROPPED THE EGG! Hahaha! I think our group had a good idea in theory, materializing it, however, was a different story. All in all we had a fun time (and made for a good laugh for everyone in the room when the yolk dripped all over our fingers before we even went to the front of the room). I like our group in the back, and I think we make a great team. See you in class!

It seems that you had a lot of fun doing this activity. I did too!!
I think that your group did really well in terms of organizing tasks and planning, even though you failed in the implementing stage. My group did the same. Your group gave each member a chance to present his/her ideas and then chose the best one. Your group knew the objectives and resources and tried to do its best to implement the project well. Even though your design was not successful, you understood that it was not all about winning. It’s also about the fun of doing this activity, working with a team where each and every member tries to do his/her best.
But hopefully next time you will do better, and our group too.

but gosh i cant even imagine coming up with the idea to attach straws like those other groups did.my gosh! was it pure genius creativity on their part or did they do something like this before? and silly us for not being observant in connection to our environment.we were so wrapped up in our sure fire way of protection our little egg that we never saw nor heard any of the other groups.Mike i think i've come up with another responsibility that we can delegate next time.lol
Well ..... what can i say :( .. The important thing is that we tried ... but the problem lies in the fact that we didn't try as a group. And that's were i think we failed.
